The University of Texas at Tyler will welcome the 2007-08 freshman class at Freshman Orientation Aug. 17 – 21, Dr. Howard Patterson, UT Tyler interim vice president for student affairs and external relations, announced.
Orientation includes informational sessions and social and community service activities.
- Orientation will kick off at 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, with freshmen moving into on-campus housing.
- Students and guests will attend separate break-out sessions Saturday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Aug. 19, with lunch and social activities planned.
- Community service activities are scheduled 9 a.m. – noon Monday, Aug. 20.
- Freshmen will attend convocation Tuesday, Aug. 21, where award-winning author and journalist Dr. Richard Rodriguez will discuss his book, Hunger of Memory: The Education of Richard Rodriguez. A copy of the book was given to every freshman as part of the UT Tyler 2007 Freshman Summer Reading Program.
Fall classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 22.
