Jesse Acosta, chief of staff at The University of Texas at Tyler, has been appointed to the Senate Hispanic Leadership Summit, President Rodney Mabry announced.
Acosta was appointed by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in January. The summit will be March 20 – 21 in Washington, D.C.
“Jesse is an exceptional leader who is quite deserving of this appointment and who will bring a great deal of insight to this policy summit. We sincerely thank Sen. Hutchison for selecting one of our staff for such an important task,” President Mabry said.
The summit will bring together government leaders and outstanding Latinos to discuss proposals to secure the United States’ competitiveness in a global economy, including education, creating more jobs and financial security, ensuring affordable and accessible health care and providing comprehensive immigration reform.
U. S. senators, policy representatives from President Bush’s administration and other experts from both industry and academia will be summit speakers.
