UT Tyler Police Department Holding Officer Benefit
December 9, 2011
The UT Tyler Police Department is assisting one of their own this holiday season, Mike Medders, UT Tyler chief of police, announced.
The department, along with the Texas System Police Association, is sponsoring a money tree for Officer Bobby Hudson after learning of his sudden diagnosis with esophageal cancer in October. Hudson has served UT System Police since 2001, first as a guard at the UT Tyler Longview University Center, then later as an officer at UT Dallas, UT Tyler and UT Health Science Center at Tyler.
“When an officer is in need, we do what we can to step up and help out regardless of the circumstances – whether they be personal or family matters,” said Michael Seale, UT Tyler police sergeant. “We know that with something like this, the financial and emotional strain is great, so we’d like to do anything we can do to help Bobby and his wife.”
Donations will be collected through Wednesday, Dec. 21.
