UT Tyler Retail Lab Grand Opening
November 21, 2011

Officials from the UT Tyler College of Business and Technology and Brookshire Grocery Company held a grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting for the university’s Center for Retail Enterprises Retail Laboratory on Nov. 17 in the UT Tyler Business Building.
UT Tyler has partnered with Brookshire Grocery Company to develop the first-of-its-kind retail lab, which will provide a hands-on experience for students interested in retail management.
The lab consists of 16 student computer stations, one instructor station and one point-of-sale register system with connections to the student computers and Brookshire Grocery Company to facilitate project management and implementation. Two gondola merchandise fixtures for student practice of visual merchandising concepts complete the lab.
Brookshire Grocery Company has led the retail industry contributions with equipment and labor donations. Other contributors include Texas Retailers Education Foundation, NCR point-of-sale and RedPrairie of SoftGrocer Software System.
