UT Tyler to Test PatriotALERT, Warning Systems Nov. 1

October 31, 2011

UT Tyler will conduct a campus-wide test of the PatriotALERT Emergency Notification Service at approximately 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.

When the test is initiated, all students, faculty and staff who are currently registered and have correct contact information in the PatriotALERT system will receive an e-mail, text (SMS) message, and a phone call with a message announcing the test. The phone call will come from 903.565.6583. Based on past testing, it may take up to 10-minutes for all messages to be delivered.

The university will also test its indoor and outdoor warning systems at the same time.

PatriotALERT is the official emergency notification service for UT Tyler. It is a mass notification system comprised of e-mail, voice and text messaging that is designed to send emergency messages to all UT Tyler students, faculty, and staff in minutes. It supplements existing means of emergency communication, including the outdoor warning system and severe weather alert radios.

Examples of emergencies for which PatriotALERT will be used include severe weather like a tornado, building evacuations, dangers like an active shooter that require lock-down or shelter-in-place, or other emergencies requiring immediate action.

Students, faculty and staff can ensure that their contact information is correct by following these instructions:
