UT Tyler to Hold Annual Welcome Week Aug. 22 – 26

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold 2011 Patriot Palooza on Aug. 22 – 26, Ona Tolliver, assistant vice president for student affairs and dean of students, announced.

Patriot Palooza is UT Tyler’s annual welcome week and provides all students with concerts, free food, movies and other social activities.

This year’s Patriot Palooza encompasses the university’s “40th Anniversary and Still Growing!” theme.

Events include:

Monday, Aug. 22

• 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Harvey Lake Deck: Back to School Barbecue Bash.

• 7 – 11 p.m. University Center: “Welcome to Fabulous UT Tyler: A Night in Vegas” Includes karaoke, movie, mocktails and more.

Thursday, Aug. 25

• 5 – 6:30 p.m. UC patio: Water Balloon Wars.

Friday, Aug. 26

• 3:30 – 6 p.m. Herrington Patriot Center: Beginner Mountain Bike Ride.

• 5 – 10 p.m. HPC pool: Welcome Back Pool Party.
