UT Tyler Website to Support Student Recruitment

The addition of student-recruitment focused content is among enhancements planned for the UT Tyler website, Beverley Golden, marketing and communications director, announced.
The university web team is working with Noel-Levitz, a higher education consulting firm, to redevelop the site, making it more dynamic and user-friendly to all audiences and supporting university goals to increase student recruitment and retain current students.
“A major part of the project is to target the prospective student with content that is informative, engaging and compelling,” said web content coordinator Emily Battle, who serves on the UT Tyler web team with webmaster Robin Kelly and web developer James Mbewe.
As web content coordinator, Battle develops and assists university departments in the development of written content for the university site. Her responsibilities include monitoring content to ensure that it is accurate, up-to-date and well-written based on web standards.
“Prospective students visit the UT Tyler website to learn about our university, its academic programs and student life. They have questions about the admissions process, affordability, financial aid and scholarships,’’ Battle said. “The site will be designed to attract and retain the interest of prospective students and lead them to take the next step in their enrollment process.’’
The site will feature new content related to UT Tyler majors and programs, points of distinction and potential post-graduate outcomes. Written content is being redeveloped based on writing-for-the-web best practices and for search engine optimization.
The website also is being enhanced with new information architecture, design and functional features to improve the online experience of both current and prospective students. New templates will include dynamic features such as a mega menu, rotating images and videos.
The new homepage and top-level pages, including those directly related to admissions and new student recruitment, are projected to launch this fall. Other enhancements will be implemented over the next several months.
