August 8, 2011
Jennifer Knupp has joined the UT Tyler Office of Graduate Admissions staff as the graduate international admissions representative, Dr. Alecia Wolf, director of graduate admissions and graduate student services, announced.
She comes to UT Tyler after serving Oxford College of Emory University in Oxford, Ga. as its international student adviser.
“We’re very fortunate to have Jennifer as the newest member of the Graduate Admissions team,” Wolf said. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that is already proving beneficial to our current and incoming international graduate students.
“We’ve seen a 56 percent increase in the number of graduate international applications in the last two years, and this past year we had a record number of new enrollments, so we really needed someone who was able to hit the ground running.”
In this role, Knupp is the primary designated school official for UT Tyler. She serves as the principal contact for current and incoming international students and provides the information needed to maintain their student status in the United States.
Knupp also is responsible for maintaining student information in the Department of Homeland Security’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System database, which is used to collect, track and monitor information regarding international students who enter the United States on student visas.
In addition to advising students on matters regarding their status, she provides workshops each semester to help international students learn more about obtaining internships for course credit and job opportunities after graduation.
Knupp holds a master of education degree in educational counseling psychology from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. and a bachelor of arts degree in German from the University of Kentucky.
Prior to serving Oxford College of Emory University, she served as a research administration associate at UT Dallas and as multicultural affairs coordinator at Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Ky.
