Some former UT Tyler faculty members gather to reminisce about their time here at the university during the UT Tyler “40th Anniversary and Still Growing!” yearlong celebration kick-off held earlier this month.

Other events throughout the year, including a Founders Dinner, will incorporate the anniversary theme.

Created by the Texas Legislature in 1971 as Tyler State College, the campus was renamed Texas Eastern University in 1975, and became a part of the renowned University of Texas System in 1979.
