Spotlight: Jessica Guffey, Tom Guffey

Senior sociology major Jessica Guffey of Ala. recently was recognized for her research.

She placed second in a paper competition during the 2011 National Social Sciences Association conference with “Examining the Relationship between Abortion Ratios and External Causes of Death in Children.” Her husband, Tom, also presented "A Strategy for a Policy on Reduction of Sexually Transmitted Diseases in Cases of Chlamydia and Gonorrhea"" at the conference.

Both will graduate with a bachelor of science degree in May and have been accepted to the sociology doctoral program at Texas Woman’s University.
