Spotlight: Melissa McGraw

Senior biology and chemistry major Melissa McGraw of Tyler will begin medical school fall 2011, Dr. James Koukl, Joint Admission Medical Program faculty director and chief health professions adviser, announced.
McGraw also is third-year JAMP student at the university.
Her sister, Kim, a former UT Tyler JAMP student, is currently a first-year medical student at Texas A&M School of Medicine, Koukl added.
JAMP was created during the 77th Texas Legislature in order to encourage highly qualified but economically disadvantaged students enhanced access to medical training programs within the state.
In order to qualify for JAMP, students must score at or greater than the state mean on the SAT/ACT, be Pell Grant eligible and must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 during their undergraduate work.
