Study Days Added on Trial Basis to UT Tyler Academic Calendar
March 14, 2011
In response to a request from the UT Tyler Student Government Association, study days for students have been implemented, Dr. Peter Fos, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, announced.
Two study days before final exams in each long semester have been added on a trial basis for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 academic years. During study days, classes will not be held.
The student body is “more than excited” about the implementation of study days, according to Sara Khalifa, SGA president.
“This was an issue that we felt students were passionate about, and we did everything in our power to make sure that it was addressed and resolved,” Khalifa said. “The senate worked extraordinarily hard on this project, and with a great deal of support from Provost Fos, we were able to pass our resolution through the SGA and several of the university committees.”
Administrators will revisit this issue in 2012.
