Spotlight: Sara McCaslin, Marilyn Young, Daniel Mitchell

Drs. Sara McCaslin, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, and Marilyn Young, professor of management, participated in a virtual conference conducted through the Internet using web conferencing tools earlier this month.

The paper, “Providing Strategies for Education in Engineering: Virtual Team Development,” was presented at the International Joint Conferences on Computer, Information and Systems Sciences and Engineering.

The research is based on an analysis of using technology as a major communication method in engineering teams and has been submitted for publication in the Journal of Engineering Education. The paper is an extension of a graduate engineering final project by Daniel Mitchell, who analyzed global teams in U. S., China and India.

Project directors were professor Thomas Crippen, McCaslin and Young.
