New Course Evaluation Feature in myUTTyler

In response to state legislation, UT Tyler has instituted a standardized university course evaluation system effective this semester, Dr. Peter Fos, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, announced.

Beginning this week, students can click on the Evaluate My Courses link on their myUTTyler home page, where they may complete an eight-question online evaluation for their fall semester instructors and courses.

“The results of the end-of-course evaluations must be analyzed and posted in a reasonable period of time, which has resulted in using our automated student information system,” Fos said.

The university will grant respondents ‘priority access’ to view their semester grades one week earlier (Dec. 23 – 29) than nonrespondents in appreciation for completing the evaluations by Sunday, Dec. 12.

“Since the results of the end-of-course evaluations will be posted on the UT Tyler web site, it is important that all students participate so the results will be representative of the entire student body,” Fos added.

Evaluations are anonymous, and instructors will have no ability to view responses. Some classes, such as labs, independent study, student teaching, internship and practica are not eligible for evaluation and will not appear on the list. If students have no courses eligible for evaluation, they will get priority access to their grades.
