UT Tyler Focuses on Marketing to Increase Enrollment
November 17, 2010
In order to provide a more direct focus on the recruitment of new students, UT Tyler has restructured its Office of News and Information, Charlie Hutchins, assistant vice president for enrollment management and marketing, announced.
Effective immediately, the office will become Marketing and Communications.
“As News and Information, our focus centered around media relations. While we will maintain our role as the media liaison, our primary responsibility will be marketing, which includes recruitment and brand and image enhancement,” said Beverley S. Golden, director.
Currently, the university is focusing on the further enhancement of the website.
“We realize that the website is a significant source of information for potential students and their parents, so we are working to make our site more appealing to prospective students as well as current students,” Hutchins said.
In summer 2010, the university implemented a new content management system to make maintaining the website more convenient. The next phase of enhancements will include polishing the text on the Web and improving navigation and search engine optimization.
“Basically, we will continue to improve the look and feel of the website,” Golden added.
