Dana Bowman Speaks at UT Tyler

The UT Tyler Office of Student Services observed 2010 Disability Awareness Day Tuesday, Oct. 26. As part of Disability Awareness Month, student services held public presentations featuring Bowman at the University Center.

Bowman, a double amputee, presented “It’s not the Disability – It’s the Ability!” He lost his legs in an accident during the annual Golden Knights training in Yuma, Ariz. in 1994.

Nine months later, Bowman became the first double amputee to re-enlist in the United States Army. His story has been featured in numerous publications and television programs, and he has given more than 400 speeches throughout the U.S.
