Wink Appointed UT Tyler College of Arts, Sciences Interim Dean
July 30, 2010
Dr. Kenneth Wink, associate professor and social sciences department chair, has been named the College of Arts and Sciences interim dean, Dr. Peter Fos, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, announced.
He replaces Dr. Alisa White, who earlier this month accepted the provost position at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
“I am pleased that Dr. Wink has agreed to serve as interim dean. The College of Arts and Sciences has made tremendous strides the past several years, due to the leadership of the two previous deans, Drs. Donna Dickerson and Alisa White,” said Fos. “Dr. Wink’s experience as an administrator and professor makes him an excellent choice for the interim position. I have full confidence that Dr. Wink will continue to assist the college on its path to excellence.”
Wink will serve as interim until a permanent dean is named.
“I am honored to be chosen as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences,” Wink said. “I appreciate the support of the provost and the department chairs in the college. Although my title will be different, I feel comfortable working with so many colleagues with whom I have served for many years. Despite the budgetary challenges the college and the university face, we will work hard this year to continue our effectiveness in providing a quality education to our students. They deserve nothing less.”
Chair of the Department of Social Sciences since 2007, Wink holds a Ph.D. in political science from Louisiana State University and a master of arts in church-state studies from Baylor University.
Professional memberships include American Political Science Association and Southwest Social Science Association, among others.
