Campus police officers Brian Froiseth and Heath Cariker with the T-3
The UT Tyler Police Department recently purchased a T-3, which is a three-wheeled battery operated vehicle.
Both environmentally friendly and economical, the T-3 will allow university police officers and guards to go places on campus that a regular patrol vehicle cannot and cover four times more area than an officer on foot patrol.
“The T-3 has been very well received so far at UT Tyler as well as at college campuses nationwide. The T-3 allows officers and guards to more closely interact with students and staff, which is a goal of the police department,” said Mike Medders, UT Tyler chief of police.
The police department will evaluate the T-3’s overall contribution to campus safety may add another to their vehicle fleet, Medders added.
