myUTTyler links the university to a new era of state-of the-art technology utilizing the new PeopleSoft student information system, Dr. Sherri Whatley, vice president for technology and chief information officer, announced.

myUTTyler provides students, parents, faculty and staff access to their information needs. The recently implemented PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system encompasses admissions and recruiting, financial aid, enrollment, student financials and much more.

“With this larger, more robust and extensive system, there are more screens of information, and it may take several more ‘clicks’ to navigate than our previous system, but we will continue to develop navigation shortcuts, streamline and improve the system for overall optimum user access and performance,” Whatley said.

This new system is more advanced than UT Tyler’s previous student information system and offers students and university personnel more sophisticated operations. Features include allowing students to register for classes and view their class schedules, among other online functions.

In the student center within the portal, students may:

  • Add and drop classes
  • View their class schedule
  • View their advisement report
  • View and accept financial aid offers
  • View and pay their bill
  • Review and update contact information
  • View outstanding To Do’s or holds

myUTTyler also provides faculty and staff with additional information and detail to perform their job functions and assist students, including providing university advisers easier access to a student’s coursework.

“The system is still relatively new and we are constantly improving and therefore the myUTTyler space is a work in progress. We request input from students, faculty and staff to continually update and improve the system for them,” she added.

Sharon Helms, associate director of information systems and project management, leads the PeopleSoft Success Team that is appointed to identify system issues and improve overall operations. Questions or feedback regarding myUTTyler may be e-mailed to 2010Success@uttyler.edu.
