University Center Celebration

The university community and local officials celebrated the grand re-opening of the University Center on the main campus with a ceremony and ribbon cutting April 14.

Remarks were made by UT Tyler President Rodney Mabry; Gregg Lassen, UT Tyler executive vice president for business affairs; Amy Whitehouse, UT Tyler Student Government Association president; and Barbara Bass, City of Tyler mayor.
 
Tours of the building immediately followed the public event.

Begun January 2009 and completed last month, the renovation project adds a 300-plus seat auditorium/theater along the north wall, a fully-expanded, two-story bookstore, new study lounge areas and office spaces for student government, student services, testing and other student-related programs.
