The University of Texas at Tyler 2010 Summer Camp Information.

- RISE (Research Involving Student Engineers)

$350 (Requests may be considered for scholarships to cover a portion or all of the cost)

This residential program gives participants the opportunity experience life on a college campus with classes and workshops during the day and activities in the evening. Students will design and assemble equipment to gather data for an experiment to be collected on a high altitude balloon. UT Tyler College of Engineering and Computer Science faculty will conduct workshops related to their disciplines, and students will learn about careers in these fields, as well as appropriate educational preparation for college. Students will present their projects to parents at the conclusion of the camp.

- New England Outdoor Adventure Camp (Ages 16 and up)

This year’s UT Tyler New England Outdoor Adventure Camp is designed to exceed the expectation of even the most hardcore outdoor enthusiast: Two days of urban adventures in Boston, hiking and mountain biking, white water rafting, rock climbing, coastal island sea kayaking and Acadia National Park activities. In addition, there will be optional fitness opportunities each morning.
Price includes airfare, room and board and all activities.

This program will introduce the sport of competitive swimming to young athletes using interval training. Children must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl to qualify.

(Cost is covered by Region 7 and Head Start and is only open to those participants)
More than 200 Head Start teachers and assistant teachers will be on campus to receive professional development training on teaching content through the arts.
