What is the Torii?
March 22, 2010
The torii is a symbolic gateway marking the entrance to Shinto shrines or other sacred areas in Japan.
It is believed that once you pass through the torii you have access to a more profound sense of understanding.
The UT Tyler Global Awareness Through Education program is designed to provide a similar experience for our students.
Those who enter the GATE program will develop a deeper understanding about the world beyond their own. A global curriculum will expose them to other cultures, religions, fine arts, history and literature as well as so much more.
