Attention Faculty and Staff: News and Information Services
January 11, 2010
The UT Tyler Office of News and Information seeks to promote and highlight the university through several ways, including news releases, printed materials and photography.
News releases, advertising, announcements, brochures, newsletters, media notifications and the university Web site are developed through the office, which serves as the official source for coordination of university public information programs.
News Releases
The Office of News and Information produces a wide range of news releases and announcements that promote the university within the East Texas region and beyond.
The sooner the office receives information, the wider distribution we can obtain. One (1) week may be sufficient to submit a release for an upcoming event to the Tyler Morning Telegraph, but two (2) weeks allows us to meet the deadlines of weekly newspapers in the region. Early notification also helps us determine the proper coverage of the information on the university Web site.
Releases are an excellent way of obtaining publicity at no cost; however, control is with the newspapers, not the university. Editors decide when, if at all, to publish the release.
University Photography
The UT Tyler photographer is available to digitally record various campus events. There is no charge for photography services, and the digital images will be provided on disc. Production of prints made from digital images will be the responsibility of the requestor.
To request photography services, please submit the photography request form at least one (1) week prior to the event date, two (2) weeks preferred. Requests made via phone and/or email are not guaranteed.
Brochures and Printed Materials
Design services are available free of charge through the Office of News and Information; however, the university community is not restricted to its services. Outside designers may be used; however, ALL materials should be reviewed by the Office of News and Information during the production process and prior to being printed.
Publicity also is available through newspaper advertising, the UT Tyler Magazine, university Web site and UT Tyler logos and registered marks.
