Campus Police Promotion

Robert Burgett’s family is seen participating in his promotional ceremony held at the UT Tyler Campus Police Department. Burgett was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant May 21.

Burgett has been employed with UT System Police since March 2002. He previously served the UT Health Science Center at Tyler Police Department. He has served as sergeant within UT Tyler’s department since 2005.

A new rank within the department, the lieutenant will oversee department operations and serve as the primary professional standards officer, according to Mike Medders, chief of police.

The sergeant will become more involved in first line supervision and officer and guard training, Medders added.
