UT Tyler 2009 Summer Camp Information

The University of Texas at Tyler Summer Camp Information:

  • Children’s Wellness Camp (Ages 5 – 12)

9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

June 15 – 19 (Session I)

July 6 – 10 (Session II)

UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center

$50 (HPC members), $80 (non-HPC members)

The camp is designed to help children develop a healthy lifestyle through enjoyable physical and intellectual activities including nutrition education, swim lessons, “brain games” and non-traditional sports.

  • Recreational Sports Action Camp (Grades 1 – 6)

9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

June 22 – 26 (Session I)

July 13 – 17 (Session II)

UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center

$50 (HPC members), $80 (non-HPC members)

The camp will provide a fun-filled and rewarding experience with activities including swimming, wiffleball, basketball, kickball, dance, kids aerobics and field day activities. 


  • RISE (Research Involving Student Engineers)

July 12 – 17 (residential program)

UT Tyler Ratliff Engineering and Science Complex

$350 (Requests may be considered for scholarships to cover a portion or all of the cost.)

This residential program gives participants the opportunity experience life on a college campus with classes and workshops during the day and activities in the evening. Students will design and assemble equipment to gather data for an experiment to be collected on a high altitude balloon. UT Tyler College of Engineering and Computer Science faculty will conduct workshops related to their disciplines, and students will learn about careers in these fields, as well as appropriate educational preparation for college. Students will present their projects to parents at the conclusion of the camp.

  • Speed and Strength Camp (Ages 12 - Adult)

9 a.m. – Noon

June 22 – 25

UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center

$50 (HPC members), $80 (non-HPC members)

The camp will feature speed, strength, agility, flexibility, plyometrics, explosive training, core strength, balance, resistance training and nutrition.


  • New England Outdoor Adventure Camp (Ages 16 and up)

July 20 – August 1

$850 w/ air from Tyler; $500 w/ no air from Tyler (students), $2,000 w/ air from Tyler; $1,700 w/ no air from Tyler (non-students)

This year’s UT Tyler New England Outdoor Adventure Camp is designed to exceed the expectation of even the most hardcore outdoor enthusiast. The camp will also have a touch of city sophistication as we begin and end this year’s adventure in downtown Boston on the Charles River.  All campers will participate in a wide assortment of activities to fully explore New England including river rafting, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking and swimming.  In addition there will be optional fitness opportunities each morning. 

*Price includes lodging, local travel, most meals, outdoor adventure activities and fitness activities.

  • Summer Swim Team (Ages 5 – 17)

8 – 9 a.m.

June 8 – August 7

This program will introduce the sport of competitive swimming to young athletes using interval training. Children must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl to qualify.


  • Swim Lessons (Ages 6 months – 14)

Levels are parent-tot, beginner and intermediate.
