UT Tyler Student Counseling Center to Hold QPR Suicide Prevention Training

The University of Texas at Tyler Student Counseling Center will present Question Persuade Refer Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Certification Tuesday, March 3 and Wednesday, March 4, Ida MacDonald, director of student services, announced.
Each training day will be noon – 1:30 p.m. in the UT Tyler Administration Building, room 301. Ida MacDonald, director of student services, will give the presentation.
“QPR is intended to offer hope through positive action,” said MacDonald. “It is not intended to be a form of counseling or treatment but rather to teach those who are in a position to recognize the warning signs, clues and suicidal communications of people in trouble to act vigorously to prevent a possible tragedy.”
All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend either day, MacDonald added.
