In the course EDEC 4385: Creativity, Play and Learning, students focus on promoting creative thinking and expression in the primary education classroom. The course is based on a study of theory and practice, directed on creative activities in early childhood through sixth grade.

The UT Tyler School of Education is an academic unit within the College of Education and Psychology. The school delivers programs at campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine as well as online via the UT-Telecampus.
