The Paving the Way fundraising campaign is less than $400,000 from its goal of $2.6 million, David Barnard, campaign co-chair announced.
The campaign has raised more than $2.2 million. These funds will provide amenities for a new building that will house the university’s Palestine campus. Construction on the building will begin in February 2009. The building is expected to open in fall 2010.
The announcement, which initiated the community phase of the campaign, was made during a rotary meeting featuring UT Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry and Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst.
President Mabry presented the rotary with an overview of the university’s academic success and the architectural rendering of the new building.
