The Society of Petroleum Engineers East Texas Chapter presented two $2,500 scholarships to UT Tyler. The presentation was made during the chapter's annual state-wide symposium held Sept. 30 at UT Tyler’s Ornelas Activity Center.

The one-day symposium helped acquaint UT Tyler’s engineering programs and the oil and gas industry, especially in the East Texas area. UT Tyler’s College of Engineering and Computer Science offers degrees in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering.
