Possible Impact of Hurricane Ike on UT Tyler

Based on the latest National Weather Service forecast, we anticipate heavy rain and high-force winds over the Palestine-Tyler-Longview area sometime between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 13), lasting into the evening. UT Tyler has begun making preparations for severe weather. University officials will communicate updates via the Web site, email, emergency text messaging and local media.

The university community is asked to use the following safety precautions.
-- Turn off all lights and close doors and windows when leaving campus for the weekend.
-- Computers and other electrical equipment should be turned off and unplugged.
-- No items that are sensitive to water damage should be left on the floor.
-- Any outdoor items or projects should be moved inside.
