UT Tyler to Hold Freshman, New Student Orientation Aug.22-26

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold Freshman/New Student Orientation Aug. 22 – 26, Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs, announced.
This year’s orientation, titled “Pushing Your Limits,” will begin Aug. 22, with residential students moving into on-campus housing. Orientation includes informational sessions and social and community service activities.
Freshmen and new students will attend convocation at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, where Dr. Yvonne S. Thornton will discuss her book, The Ditchdigger’s Daughters: A Black Family’s Astonishing Success Story. A copy of the book was given to every freshman and transfer student as part of the UT Tyler 2008 Freshman/New Student Summer Reading Program.
Fall classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 27.
