UT Tyler to Hold Tyler Area Candlelight Vigil
UT Tyler will hold a Tyler area/joint-college candlelight vigil and speak-out for ending domestic, dating and family violence beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29 at the University Center.
The East Texas Crisis Center as well as Texas College and Tyler Junior College also will take part in the event.
“We will begin with music, speakers and displays at 5:30 p.m. and follow with a walk to the Riter Millennium Carillon Tower for an open microphone speak-out for survivors, friends and family of victims,” said UT Tyler counselor Kim Harvey-Livingston.
Ribbon pins also will be on sell during the vigil for $1 each. Proceeds will go to the Campus Assault Response Effort student organization.
CARE is a student organization of peer educators with the mission of providing education, prevention and response programs related to sexual assault, sexual misconduct, dating violence, stalking and domestic violence.
