UT Tyler Holds New Venture Business Plan Competition May 24
The results of The University of Texas at Tyler 2007 New Venture Business Plan Competition will be announced Thursday, May 24, according to Dr. Isaura Flores, UT Tyler assistant professor of management and New Venture Tyler director.
The event, which will begin at 1 p.m. in the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center, will include oral presentations, a reception and awards ceremony.
The competition is open to students at any university. Competitors will gain access to networks of successful entrepreneurs, lenders and investors. They also will have the opportunity to learn greater team-building and business-planning skills.
To receive the $100,000 grand prize, student teams must commit to launch their venture. The judges in all rounds will act as venture capitalists and analyze the ventures to determine those which represent the best investment opportunity. The winning team has a chance to earn an additional $100,000 if they relocate their venture to Tyler.
All students whether participating or not, are welcome to attend and may make reservations by contacting Flores, 903.565.5834, or email@example.com.
Tyler community leader Robert Peltier and the Tyler Economic Development Council are co-sponsors of this year’s competition.
