UT Tyler Student-Athletes Compete in ASC Championship Track Meet
Thirteen student members of the UT Tyler Track Club competed in the American Southwest Conference Track & Field Championships, winning four events.
The meet was held April 22 at McMurry University.
Ben Donnan won the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase in a conference record time of 9:57.90. Donnan also won the 800 meter run in 2:00.79.
Bojan Kajtaz won the 1500 meter in 4:14.51, and Charity Bolling won the women’s 10,000 meter in 45:21.90.
“These young men and women have worked very hard this winter and spring. The Track Club should continue to get stronger each year because of the foundation laid this year. Club president William Ritter should be commended for his organizational efforts,” said Track Club coach Bob Hepler.
Because UT Tyler does not have a NCAA recognized track and field program, the club was not eligible for team points, Hepler added.
