Volunteers Needed

The East Texas Food Bank and PATH are seeking volunteers to help with relief efforts for evacuees of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

East Texas Food Bank needs volunteers to help process food drive contributions and pull food order for shelters, evacuees, etc.

The week of Sept. 26, ETFB hours are extended to 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Normal hours, 8 a.m. - 4:30p.m., will resume the week of Oct. 3.

Volunteers must commit to 2 hour shifts.

To volunteer at the East Texas Food Bank, call the volunteer coordinator, 903.597.3663 . UT Tyler students should identify themselves as such.

PATH has set up a temporary pantry at the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center and needs enough volunteers to handle PATH responsibilities, as well as run the temporary pantry.

The pantry will need 2 caseworkers, 2 pantry workers and 4 persons fillings bags at all times. Individuals who have not done this type work can be trained quickly.

Volunteer shifts are 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., 12 - 4:30 p.m. and 4 - 7:30 p.m. Nametags and T-shirts will be provided.

The FEMA DRC is located at 2301 S. Broadway in the Off Broadway Shopping Center. It is open 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
