2013 Piano Skills Festival

The 2013 Piano Skills Festival culminated the evening of February 23rd with the Outstanding Musicians Recital and Awards Ceremony.  Eighteen students performed repertoire from early elementary to advanced levels, including two collaborative performances.  One collaborative work featured a trombonist performing a Baroque sonata, while the other featured the first movement of Saint-Saens Piano Concerto in G minor.  Following the recital, individual awards of trophies and medals were presented to the students by their respective teachers.  A reception followed.

To be eligible for Outstanding Musician Awards, students received high scores in each skill area of sight reading, technique, harmonization, and two repertoire selections.  Students earning all A’s received a trophy while students earning four A’s and one B+ received a medal.

Sixty-five pre-college students participated in this year’s festival.  Participating teachers were Brian Braquet, Sherrye Coles, Vicki Conway, Shelly Davis, Dr. Jan Forester, Meg Miller, Nancy Newman, Lisa Pevey, and Dr. Marylyn Wright.  For a complete listing of the recital and trophy and medal winners, click here.
