| Danny Vinson is Adjunct Instructor of Low Brass at the University of Texas at Tyler. Born
in Overton and graduated from Henderson High School in 1975, he is a native of East Texas. He
received an Associate of Fine Arts degree from Kilgore Jr. College in 1977. He continued his
education in music at the University of North Texas graduating with a Bachelor of Music,
Education degree in 1982. |

| After earning a Master of Science in Music Education degree from the University of Illinois
in Champaign/Urbana he was accepted into The U.S. Coast Guard Band in 1984 and became
principal euphoniumist in 1996. During his 22 year career with the Coast Guard Band he
appeared numerous times as soloist with the band and in recital and as a soloist with many high
school, college and professional ensembles throughout the United States including with the U.S.
Army Orchestra in Washington, DC and the American Band of Providence, RI. |

| Internationally, he has appeared at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference in June
2000 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and for eleven consecutive years at the Northern
Germany Low Brass Workshop. In July 2003 Dan performed with the National Symphony
Orchestra of Ukraine as a part of the annual Horovitz Festival in Kiev. |

| As a teacher Dan has extensive experience having taught trombone, euphonium, and tuba to
high school students in the southeastern Connecticut area and as Instructor of Euphonium at the
University of Connecticut and Instructor of Trombone and Euphonium at the University of
Rhode Island. Achievements of his students include Connecticut and Rhode Island All State
bands and orchestras, MENC’s All Eastern Band, McDonald’s All American Band, the music
camp at Tanglewood, and finalists in the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba
Competition at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Twin Lake, Michigan. |

| Dan has appeared as a clinician at many New England area high schools and state music
educators conferences, the renowned National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan, the
Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, and at the Atlanta (Georgia) International Band and
Orchestra Clinic. |

| Dan is active in the International Euphonium Tuba Association (ITEA) having served as
Assistant to the Secretary-Treasurer and as Advertising Coordinator for the T.U.B.A. Journal. |

| Dan’s artistry has inspired many composers to create new works for the euphonium including
Lewis J. Buckley, Director of the US Coast Guard Band, Ukrainian born Vyacheslav Timokhin
of Switzerland, and German composer Alexander Potiyenko, whose Concerto for Euphonium
was premiered with the University of Connecticut Symphony Orchestra in November 1999. |
