Theatre Studies Minor

Theatre Studies may be chosen as a minor to satisfy bachelor’s degree requirements in other fields and/or a minor within the Department of Literature and Languages. The theatre minor requires at least 18 hours of courses including 6-9 hours of English courses with a focus on theatre literature, and a further 9-12 hours of Theatre courses. 12 of the 18 hours must be upper level, and nine hours completed at this university. The minor requires a minimum grade point average of 2.5. The required courses for the minor are chosen in consultation with the theatre faculty and the student's major advisor. Theatre 4360—Directing the Theatre and one upper level three-credit English dramatic literature course are required for the minor and must be completed at UT Tyler. Students majoring in English and minoring in Theatre Studies may not count the same courses towards both the major and the minor, but must substitute appropriate alternative courses.
