Journalism Mission Statement

The Department of Communication offers the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Journalism.

The journalism program supports The University of Texas at Tyler mission by providing quality education to prepare students to work in the news writing/editing, public relations, and advertising professions.

Courses develop critical thinking, prepare students to understand and analyze ideas, and to organize, write, and creatively present their ideas and those of others through media. Students learn to act with honesty and integrity and demonstrate leadership, communication, and technology skills.
