MASS COMMUNICATION COURSE UPDATES

Under MCOM students must take MCOM 2313 Multimedia Production, MCOM 2311 Writing for Mass Media, and MCOM 2306 Media Design & Production as the first 9 hours in the program. We'll be having students beginning the program this fall who will graduate under the new MCOM program. Multimedia Production is a 2000 level course under MCOM.

Under the MCOM course rotation MCOM 3318 Media Law & Ethics will be offered in the Spring and MCOM 3385 History of Mass Media will be offered in the Fall. MCOM 3318 remains part of the required core for the mass communication major, and MCOM 3385 becomes a "choice" under one or more of the competencies.

MCOM 2311 Writing for Mass Media and 3301 Feature Writing are offered in Fall only now.

Regarding a MCOM Minor
Students are to take: 2313/3380-Multimedia Production; 2306-Media Design and Production; and 2311-Writing for Mass Media. After that you can take what you desire as long as the prerequisites have been satisfied.
