UT Tyler Departmental Performance Measures
Performance Measures are applicable to all Business Affairs department heads.
Control Self-Assessment Reports. Annual control self-assessment reports are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by September 30 each year.
Policies and Procedures Manual. Updated policies and procedures manuals are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by January 15 each year. Manuals should address all significant departmental processes, activities, and compliance issues.
Strategic Plans. Strategic plans are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by September 15 each year. Plans should address strategic priorities for the current and next fiscal years.
Training Plans. Training plans are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by September 15 each year. Training plans should identify classes, conferences, seminars, personal studies, and other training that the department head and each member of his or her staff have attended or will attend during the current fiscal year.
Capital Inventory Report. Capital inventory reports are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by May 31 each year.
Resolution of Audit Findings. All audit findings are to be resolved by the dates specified in the audit reports.
Customer Surveys. Departments are expected to achieve "Good" or "Excellent" ratings on all annual customer survey categories.
External Peer Reviews. On a regular basis, all departments are expected to invite an external team of experts to the campus to conduct a departmental peer review. The Vice President for Business Affairs must approve peer review team members. Peer review reports are due by February 1 each year.
Budget Requests. Budget requests are due to the Vice President for Business Affairs by January 31 each year.
Benchmarking Data. Each department is expected to attach benchmarking data to their operating budget requests by January 31 each year. At a minimum, benchmarking data should include FTE employee numbers and total budget amounts from at least three comparable institutions.
Performance Evaluations. Department heads are expected to conduct formal performance evaluations on all departmental employees by January 31 each year. Merit pool allocations in operating budget requests should be based on and link to the formal performance evaluations.
Web Pages. Departments are expected to publish and maintain well-designed Web pages. Web pages should include up-to-date information that is valuable to departmental customers.
Appearance of Department. The appearance of departmental offices, storerooms, and other physical facilities should be neat, orderly, and professionally decorated at all times.
Other Departmental Performance Measures. Department heads will be formally evaluated annually against each of the above performance factors. Other factors to be evaluated include respect for coworkers, willingness to accept direction, the ability to work with other people, staff morale, vision, initiative, professional judgment, professional and ethical conduct, technical competence, quality of work, timeliness of task completion, writing and speaking skills, the ability to manage (plan, organize, direct, and control), overall department performance, and overall department improvement.
