Dr. Neil Ford publishes

papers with three former

graduate students

Dr. Neil B. Ford, Professor of Biology has had three papers accepted for publication in scientific journals to come out this spring. "Ontogenetic and sexual differences in diet in an actively foraging snake, Thamnophis proximus" will be published in March in the Canadian Journal of Zoology. Mr. Paul Hampton is coauthor on this paper and helped collect the data used in the study when he was a graduate student of Dr. Ford's working on a grant at the Old Sabine Wildlife Management Area near Lindale, Texas. Mr. Hampton is currently working on his Ph. D. in zoology at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. "The effects of all-Terrain vehicle use on the herpetofauna of an East Texas Floodplain" will be published this spring in the Texas Journal of Science with Mr. Tim Hunkapiller. The paper was based on Mr. Hunkapiller's Master's Thesis conducted at the Old Sabine Wildlife Management Area and Mr. Kevin Herriman of Texas Park's and Wildlife Department is a coauthor on the publication. Mr. Hunkapiller is currently a Ph. D. student in the department of zoology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The paper "Impacts on herpetofauna in a disturbed floodplain in Smith County, Texas" is scheduled to be published in the American Midland Naturalist and is from the Master's thesis of Mr. Hampton. Mr. Herriman is coauthor on this publication also.
