UT Tyler Advancement
Heritage Society
The Heritage Society was established in 2000 to allow UT Tyler to honor those who have created a planned gift. Membership is reserved for those who have included the university in their will or trust, as a beneficiary of a portion of their life insurance policy or pension plan, or who have created some other
type of planned gift.
These gifts are crucial to the future of UT Tyler, and those who accept membership in The Heritage Society are very special to us. We are honored to be included in these plans and are grateful to each member of the Heritage Society. Their trust and enduring commitment builds the future of a great university.

New Members of UT Tyler Heritage Society Announced
Seven East Texans were recognized by The University of Texas at Tyler Heritage Society for their contributions to the university, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.
New society members are Ann Steger, Elizabeth "Bitsy" Wright, Harold and Juanita Smotherman, Drs. Lawrence Anderson and Sasha Vukelja and Dr. Phillip E. Jackson.
To date, the Inspiring Excellence campaign has raised $23 million.
"We have learned of gift intentions conservatively estimated at more than $18 million since the start of our campaign. While these gifts do not count toward our campaign goal, they most definitely do secure a brighter future for UT Tyler and for the entire East Texas region. These donors really are Inspiring Excellence," said Jerre Iversen, UT Tyler vice president for university advancement.
The UT Tyler Heritage Society consists of individuals who have some provision for UT Tyler in their will, trust or other estate plan. Eligibility is based upon notification of intent. Each member is presented with a certificate of appreciation.
Laura Hanson-Dean, director of gift planning at UT Austin, served as keynote speaker at a luncheon honoring the newest members. President Mabry also gave remarks and inducted those members in attendance.
"This is our way to honor these gifts and to express our great appreciation to the people who support UT Tyler in this way," said Larry Wickham, UT Tyler director of gift planning.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. More than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of almost 7,000 high-ability students at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
